Kent-Moore J-42628 Clutch Spring Compressor Plate
A change has been made to the 4L60E Case Extension for 1997 that affects the use of the Clutch Spring Compressor J-23327. Two raised bosses have been added that interfere with the Back-Up Plate J-2410-2 which is part of J-2337. J-42628 should be used in place of the existing plate.
The Kent-Moore J-42628 Clutch Spring Compressor Plate is specifically designed with a smaller diameter to avoid interference with two raised bosses on the rear of the case extension. These raised bosses, found on certain S/T, Y, and C/K models, previously caused issues with the essential J-23327 Clutch Spring Compressor during the disassembly of the low/reverse clutch assembly.
When using the J-23327 Clutch Spring Compressor, the J-42628 plate serves as a backup washer, ensuring secure and accurate compression of the clutch spring. This design eliminates interference from the raised bosses, facilitating proper disassembly and reassembly of the low/reverse clutch assembly.
