The GM-46335-A Valve Spring Compressor is designed for on-vehicle valve spring service in transverse and longitudinal engine applications. After removing the cams and followers from the cylinder head, the GM-46335-A tool is inserted into the spring coils. The compressor is then tightened against the valve spring retainer, compressing the spring to allow for the removal and installation of the keepers.
This tool is handy in transverse applications where clearance is limited due to the cowl’s proximity, making the GM-50717 unsuitable.
The GM-46335-A fits into these tight spaces and effectively compresses the valve springs, facilitating the servicing of springs or valve stem seals.
Using unapproved methods may damage the springs or hinder reassembly.
